Outdoor wedding ceremonies are simple! This is how you plan a romantic, relaxed, and yet elegant wedding

There are various ways to get married, and we've previously introduced traditional wedding customs, the simple and quick process of civil and registry marriages, as well as the lively and joyful atmosphere of American weddings. Today, ALUXE wants to introduce another popular trend in recent years—the "Outdoor Wedding." It combines a sense of ceremony with the uniqueness of outdoor venues, creating a distinctive wedding experience for everyone!

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Part 1
The outdoor wedding ceremony is not complicated. Generally, it can be divided into two parts: "Entrance" and "Wedding Ritual." The entrance sequence typically begins with adorable flower girls, followed by the parents of the couple, bridesmaids and groomsmen. The groom usually waits at the altar, and the beautiful bride makes a grand entrance as the final touch.

Some brides choose to enter with either the groom or the bride's father. It depends on the couple's decision, whether they want a traditional or American-style wedding. For a heartwarming and tearful atmosphere, having family members escort the bride and personally handing her over to the groom is a touching choice.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Part 2
Once the couple is ready, the officiant, usually a pastor, announces the beginning of the ceremony. This is followed by prayers and the marriage vows. If a religious figure is not preferred, an elder family member can officiate the ceremony. The officiant will inquire if anyone objects to the union, then ask the couple if they are willing to become husband and wife.
The highlight of the ceremony is the exchange of vows and rings. Unlike proposal speeches, wedding vows are promises made in front of friends and family, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in life. The officiant then declares the couple married, allowing them to lift the bride's veil for the first kiss

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Bonus Section

After the officiant declares the couple married, the ceremony is essentially complete. Following the ceremony, the couple receives blessings, takes photos, and enjoys a meal. Some couples opt for additional rituals after exchanging vows, such as lighting unity candles, pouring unity sand, planting a unity tree, writing love letters on wine bottles, or simple acts like pouring champagne or cutting the cake. The choice depends on the couple's preferences and meaningful rituals.

Common Rituals and Their Meanings

Unity Sand Ceremony:
The couple pours sand of different colors into a bottle, symbolizing their coming together despite different backgrounds.

Unity Candle Ceremony:
Each partner lights their own candle and then lights a central candle together, symbolizing their unity.

Unity Tree Ceremony:
The couple adds soil representing themselves to a potted plant, signifying growth, unity, and shared blessings.

Wine Box:
The couple writes love letters to each other, seals them in a box with a bottle of wine, and opens it on future anniversaries for a nostalgic celebration.

For busy couples or those who prefer a more straightforward approach, an outdoor wedding blends the characteristics of both Eastern and Western weddings, making it a good compromise for everyone involved.

      • The History and Preparation Tips for Si Dian Jin in Singapore: A Timeless Wedding Tradition

In Singapore, traditional Chinese wedding customs are still deeply respected, with one of the most cherished being "Si Dian Jin" (四点金). A significant symbol in Teochew weddings, Si Dian Jin is a set of gold jewellery given to the bride by the groom’s family, usually the mother-in-law, as a blessing and welcome into the family. This tradition has evolved over time, but its cultural and sentimental value remains strong in modern Singaporean weddings.
